    Zahid R Chaudhary

    A scholar and historian, Zahid R Chaudhary specialises in postcolonial studies, photography and visual culture.

    Chaudhury received his PhD from Cornell University and his thesis formed the basis of his first book, Afterimage of Empire: Photography in Nineteenth-Century India (2012), an in-depth historical account of early colonial photography in India. His ongoing book projects include The Psychic Life of Evidence: Truth after Post-Facts and Impunity: Notes on a Global Tendency.

    Chaudhury has been published in numerous journals, including October, Social Text, Cultural Critique, South Asia and Camera Obscura, as well as contributed to publications such as Photography in India: From Archives to Contemporary Practice (2018) and India/Contemporary Photographic and New Media Art (2018).

    At the time of writing, Chaudhury lives and works in New Jersey, USA, where he is an associate professor of English at Princeton University.
