Using the forum

We, at the MAP Academy, offer online courses on South Asian art with the aim of making art history accessible to a wider audience. As a part of these courses, we also host a number of forums where we encourage our learners to share their thoughts, experiences and interact with other learners to make our process more interactive. Here are some rules and guidelines for using the forum space to ensure that all our learners can express themselves freely and safely, continuing their engagement with South Asian art, history and culture. Failure to adhere to any of these rules may result in permanent suspension of your account. The MAP Academy team reserves the right to moderate, mediate and escalate any complaints raised on forum conduct. If you are engaging with our content on social media, platform rules of conduct as specified by the site will apply.

(1) Violence: We prohibit any form of graphic violent content, glorification of violence, instigation of violence against an individual or a group of people or the use of violent language as a form of self-expression. This includes conditional and unconditional statements declaring intent to harm, sexually assault or commit violent acts that could lead to injury. As a part of our zero-tolerance policy against hate and violence, accounts engaging in such behaviour may be permanently suspended.

(2) Bullying: We prohibit any form of abusive behaviour on our forum targeting individuals or a group of people. Any comments that are seen to be insensitive of gender, sexual orientation, race, caste, class, religion, disability, chronic illness, nationality or age will be flagged and taken off and will lead to suspension of the account. This policy also prohibits learners from propagating stereotypes about groups of people, especially if such stereotyping has historically led to the marginalisation of the group. We also restrict comments that are written with the intent to shame, abuse, dehumanise or degrade fellow users.

With the aim of protecting our learners from potential harm that is inflicted on exposure to such content, we strictly prohibit the use of language, imagery, symbols and other visual, auditory or written material that encourages, condones or promotes suicide and self-harm. This includes self-inflicted bodily injuries, eating disorders, promoting strategies, methods or information that may assist such acts or declare intent to do so yourself.
