A writer, editor and educator, Aileen Blaney’s scholarship is focused on Irish cinema and photographic practices in India. She is the co-editor, along with Chinar Shah, of the book, Photography in India: from Archives to Contemporary Practice (2019). Her work has been featured in other journals and popular magazines such the The Caravan, Journal of Women’s Studies, Photography and Culture, The Wire and Huffington Post. 

Blaney completed her PhD in Film Studies from Trinity College, Dublin and has degrees in theatre, English literature and French studies. Following her doctorate, she undertook research into contemporary Korean cinema via a scholarship from the National Institute for International Education Development in the Department of Film Studies at Chung-Ang University, Seoul. She taught at Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology (formerly in Bengaluru), and at the Dublin Institute of Technology and Trinity College, Dublin. She has also worked as a research fellow and Curatorial Assistant at the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Bengaluru.

At the time of writing, Blaney works as an associate professor of Film Studies at FLAME University, Pune.
