A gallery that promotes contemporary South Asian art practices and represents artists working across various media, GALLERYSKE was founded by Sunitha Kumar Emmart in 2003 in Bengaluru with the aim of encouraging cross-disciplinary dialogue around art. The gallery opened its second branch in 2013 in Connaught Place, New Delhi, and in 2016, shifted to a shared space with PHOTOINK at Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

The gallery emerged with the growing interest and boom in Indian contemporary art in the early-2000s and has since been at the forefront of South Asian art practices that push the boundaries of genre and medium. Within the first year of its founding, it held shows by Mahendra Sinh and Suhasini Kejriwal and has since represented over fifteen artists, including Abir Karmakar, Abhishek Hazra, Anup Mathew Thomas, Astha Butail, Avinash Veeraghavan, Navin Thomas, Prabhavathi Meppayil, Sheela Gowda, Sudarshan Shetty and Tara Kelton. In 2013, the gallery partnered with Tara Kelton to create a cultural space and residency programme called T.A.J Residency and SKE Projects, with the aim of building engagement with and among artists and facilitating an exchange of ideas to bridge the gap between technology and art.

GALLERYSKE regularly participates in international art events such as the India Art Fair, New Delhi; Art Basel, Miami; and Art Dubai. The gallery also organises artist lectures and presentations, screenings, student outreach programmes and book fairs. In 2013, to mark the inauguration of their new space in Connaught Place as well as its ten-year anniversary, the gallery held a group exhibition of the artists it represents. In October 2016, it collaborated with PHOTOINK on an exhibition that featured the works of artists represented by both galleries.

Following the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the gallery collaborated with other galleries in India and Dubai, such as Green Art Gallery and Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde, Dubai; Chatterjee & Lal, Mumbai; Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai; Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai; Gallery Espace, New Delhi; Nature Morte, New Delhi; Shrine Empire Gallery, New Delhi; and Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi to host digital exhibitions on the platform In Touch.

As of writing, the gallery operates from its two spaces in Langford Town, Bengaluru, and Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.
