A composite form of the Hindu god Shiva and his consort Parvati, depicted equally split down the middle, half-male on the right and half-female on the left, representing the inseparability of the male and female principles. Found in a variety of artworks across India and South Asia, notably in relief sculptures in the caves at Badami and Elephanta.
