Shaktism

A major sect of Hinduism wherein the metaphysical reality is considered to be a woman, and the primordial cosmic energy, Shakti, occupies the place of the godhead. Hindu goddesses including Durga, Kali, Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati are considered a part of the sect, forming different aspects of Devi, the supreme goddess. From the Sanskrit shaktah, meaning “doctrine of energy.”
