The memoir of Zahiruddin Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire. Written in the Chagatai language in an autobiographical style, the book recounts his life leading up to the conquest of India, his military campaigns and insights on diverse topics such as statecraft, poetry, music, paintings, geography and astronomy. The work was translated to Persian during the reign of Akbar.
