Nagali Sagar

Glossary

Also called Nigliva, it is an archaeological site located about 20 kilometres from Lumbini, Nepal, that contains the remains of an Ashokan pillar with Brahmi inscriptions detailing the Mauryan emperor Ashoka’s visit in the third century BCE. The site is also believed to be the birthplace of the Kanakamuni Buddha.
