Early Western Chalukya

Also known as the Badami Chalukyas, the dynasty ruled over parts of present-day Karnataka and the Deccan from the sixth century CE. It was established by Pulakesin I and rose to prominence under Pulakesin II and Vikramaditya II, becoming the first major empire in the Deccan in the early medieval period. Known for their patronage of art and architecture, they were overthrown by the Rashtrakutas in the eighth century CE.
