Glossary

An art movement that originated in the 1950s and 1960s in Britain and the United States of America, it challenged traditional as well as prevailing ideas of art. It was characterised by direct references to commercial forms of art, such as comics and advertisements. Early practitioners of Pop Art included Eduardo Paolozzi, Larry Rivers and Robert Rauschenberg.
