Safflower Dye

Glossary

A dye obtained from the flower petals of the safflower plant (Carthamus Tinctorius). While the petals also yield a yellow dye called safflor, it is the red dye, carthamin, that has been more commonly used. The plant is also cultivated as a source of vegetable oil.
