Neolithic Period

Neolithic Period

The period succeeding the Paleolithic and the Mesolithic periods, dated from approximately 10,000–4,500 BCE. Also known as the New Stone Age, this was the last phase of stone tool usage by prehistoric populations, and was characterised by the transition from food collection to food production, domestication of animals and the emergence of pottery. This period was followed by the Bronze Age.
