Gajantaka Shiva

Glossary

An incarnation of Shiva as the killer of the elephant demon Gajasura. It is commonly depicted in Hindu temples, particularly those constructed under the Guptas, Pallavas and Cholas. From the Sanskrit, meaning “the slayer of the elephant.”
