The use of popular and everyday materials and images in pop art. Kitsch in German signifies art, objects and design that are considered to be garish and of “low” taste. The use of kitsch in pop art was marked by the incorporation of images, icons and text from popular culture, often in an ironic manner. Notable exponents working in the technique include as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Odd Nerdrum.
