A bull elephant from Puranic mythology and the state elephant of Kamsa, Krishna’s uncle who sought to kill him. The elephant was stationed at the gates of Mathura to kill Krishna and Balarama but was instead killed by Krishna. This episode is depicted in several works of art, such as the Bhitargaon temple sculptures and Mughal paintings.
