Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

A public university and research institute established in 1945 in Mumbai by nuclear physicist Homi J Bhabha, under whose directorship the institute developed a programme for the commission and acquisition of Indian art, with special attention to modernist works that enshrined the humanist vision and scientific optimism of post-Independence India.
