Jatamakuta

Glossary

A hairstyle or headdress in the Indian iconographic tradition in which long, matted hair is coiled and piled atop the head in a conical form. Most commonly seen in artistic depictions of the Hindu deity Shiva, it is also found in Jain and Buddhist art.
