The technique of imprinting human hands on rock surfaces, found in Prehistoric cave paintings. The process involves placing one hand, typically the left, on the rock and spraying pigment on and around the hand using a hollowed bone to create a negative silhouette. The earliest known hand stencils date to the Middle Paleolithic period, around sixty-four thousand years ago, and are found in the Cave of Maltravieso, Caceres, Spain.
