One of the earliest documented deities in Tamil Sangam literature, she is the goddess of war and victory. She was worshipped by semi-nomadic tribes in ancient India, who prayed to her for before undertaking cattle-raids and appeased her with ritual sacrifices. Her name derives from the Tamil word korram, meaning “victory.”
