Mahakapi Jataka

Glossary

One of the Jataka tales, it tells the story of the bodhisattva‘s life as a monkey king who stretched his body like a bridge across part of a river to help his subjects escape an attack by humans. Depictions of this tale can be found at the Sanchi Stupa and the Bharhut Stupa.
