The only female form of Vishnu and the deity of enchantment in the Hindu pantheon. She appears in the Samudra Manthan episode of the Bhagavata Purana to take the pot of amrit (elixir of immortality) from the asuras to the devas. In some Puranas, she is depicted as Shiva’s consort and the mother of Aiyanar Sasta.
