Also known as Divisionism or Chromoluminarism, it is a technique in painting that involves applying small, distinct dots or strokes of unmixed primary colours to create an image that visually blends together when viewed from a distance. The technique was developed by artist Georges Seurat and his student Paul Signac and became a central feature of the nineteenth-century Neo-Impressionism movement.
