An illustrated manuscript of the epic poem celebrating the reign of Hussain Nizam Shah (r. 1553–65). The poem, composed in Persian, is accompanied by twelve illustrations that exemplify the early period of Deccani painting. Six of these paintings show the queen in a more prominent aspect than the king, in keeping with convention. The manuscript was commissioned by the monarch’s widow c. 1565–69 and is presently housed at the Bharat Itihas Sanshodhak Mandal, Pune.
