In Tantric Buddhism, she is a female form of the Buddha, which is associated with enlightenment and wisdom. Within iconographic traditions, she is usually depicted with red skin and three eyes, holding a flaying knife in one hand and a skull cup in the other. She is also believed to be the consort of Heruka or Samvara, a protective deity.
