A deity in the Hindu pantheon, Vishwakarma is considered a divine engineer and was the architect of Dwarka, Lanka and the heavens, in addition to a number of celestial and royal palaces. In the early Vedas, the term Vishwakarma was also used to refer to the supreme deity, often Indra, but by the medieval period, he was worshipped as the patron deity of sculptors and architects.
